Weird Coffee Question

SUMMARY: Does espresso coffeemake you smell different? Coffee seems more and more likely to make the next published TBM superfood list. It passes so many of the litmus tests like being part of human cuisine for centuries (since the 16th century), adopted by human around the lobe, and contemporary scientific investigation demonstrates multiple short and long-term benefits (e.g. digestion enhancement, decrease in all-cause mortality, decrease in depression, cardioprotection, lowered risk of metabolic syndrome, neuroprotection).

Actually two or three questions. In TBM we have a peculiar, to those not attuned to our insights on human physiology, list of super-foods. Victor started us off with beef and raw cashews. I added things like beef liver, red wine, hot peppers, and more.

Coffee seems more and more likely to make the next published TBM superfood list (see current one below). It passes so many of the litmus tests like being part of human cuisine for centuries (since the 16th century), adopted by human around the globe, and contemporary scientific investigation demonstrates multiple short and long-term benefits (e.g. digestion enhancement, decrease in all-cause mortality, decrease in depression, cardioprotection, lowered risk of metabolic syndrome, neuroprotection).

As a result I’ve been experimenting with adding coffee to my diet in recent years having spent most of my life without it altogether. In doing so I’ve noticed a few things.

First, it’s possible to ‘heal’ from TBM’s Hormonal (2%) coffee prohibition. Second, it reveals the soundness of the liver’s detoxification capacity. Third, it can taste quite nice, especially paired with the right food and prepared properly with high quality beans. Fourth, best consumed on a full stomach. Fifth, we all have different personal daily consumption limits. Sixth, these numbers are getting ridiculously high, it is fun to make!

Regarding it being fun. Those who have visited my home know how passionate I’ve become about making my guests a cup of Chiapas, single-estate, French press coffee. I cringe if a guest wants to add dairy to my perfect creation! I love the hand grinding and nerding out on grounds-to-water ratio and steeping time. Well, I recently purchased an espresso machine and a new monster has immerged. There are so many new variables to geek out on and I feel like a mad scientist in my private chemistry lab. I’m even roasting my beans own now!

This brings me to my wierd question. Has anyone else noticed that espresso consumption, versus steeped coffee methods, changes their body odor in a positive way? I don’t typically require a deodorant. It usually takes a couple days without showering before it becomes strong. Yet since experimenting with espresso it is strong as soon as I climb out of the shower! I stopped espresso for a few days and it disappeared. I began again and it returned. I had a friend tell me that it smelled nice, kind of like carmelized onions.

I’d love to hear any of your thoughts, please share.

Dr. Millet received his doctor of chiropractic from Cleveland Chiropractic College-Los Angeles in 1989. While a student there he worked for a brief period of time in Dr. Frank's chiropractic office in Tujunga, California. Dr. Millet began studying TBM in earnest in 2001 and had the good fortune of once again calling the same city, Salt Lake City, Utah, home as Dr. Frank. They got together nearly every week and Dr. Frank became a personal mentor to him as he was learning the ropes. Dr. Millet has been a TBM instructor since 2003 and the owner of TBM since 2009.

Hello Dr. Millet,
Great website. My name is Cynthia Brant. I am not a Chiropractor although I have several friends who are. I am a Homeopath. In 1997 I had the good fortune to go to Utah and take the first module with Dr. Frank. Life changing to say the least. Before I transferred to alternative medicine, I was a RN until I realized the damage that can be done by traditional medicine. I jumped ship looking for another option. One of my friends had a TBM Chiro who suggested I look into it. My community generously supported this education and away I went. Additionally I am from Michigan and met Dr Goodheart and learned Kinesiology. Suddenly medicine made sense to me as I went places that confused others. Homeopathy, Energy Medicine and well the list goes on.
I believe I’ve even met you. Did you happen to come to Mackinaw Island to take the next modules at the Grand Hotel circa 1998? Dr Frank asked me to set that up and I happily did.
Anyway I am in my 70’s now and we moved last year to a condo. As I go through stuff to declutter, I’m remembering the path that my life took after giving up traditional medicine for alternative medicine.
I am so grateful that you bought the program and continue to teach it and the wonderful work you are doing. I am also grateful for the chance to learn such a wonderful skill. And of course I have success stories. I wish you continued success and I know Dr Frank is smiling on you. Bless you!
